What is ISO certification?
ISO is a familiar acronym that stands for the International Organization for Standardization. ISO certification is an official seal of approval for any company or organisation that decides to operate in compliance with ISO management standards. It's issued by a third-party certification body, for example WSS, who will come in and carry out an audit of your management systems.
This means that we'd carry out an initial audit to assess your existing systems and services, and help you cover any potential gaps with new standards. Further audits would be required during the accreditation phase while we help you get your systems up to scratch. We'd make sure you get re-certified by keeping all standards updated.
Why should we be ISO certified?
ISO certified companies can show that they're offering a more efficient and better quality service. Key stakeholders will see that your business is stable, safe and has a recognised structure. It also reassures your employees that the business is well run, and capable of growth. Instituting standard practices makes it clearer to everyone in an organisation what needs doing, and that roles are properly assigned. This will help to avoid unnecessary duplication, identify problems more quickly, and find solutions.
Obtaining ISO certification will help your company increase its efficiency, while at the same time reducing your costs. Your safety risks will also be reduced, and consequently your insurance premiums will go down. Your employees will become more engaged, and your customer satisfaction levels will improve. As the credibility of your business grows, you'll gain a reputation in the market for your products or services. This helps to attract more customers.
What do ISO standards do?
At WSS, we can offer certification for the following standards:
- ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management
- ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management
- ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management
ISO 9001 forms the basis for almost every management system and offers the general benefits mentioned above. It will also ensure you keep abreast of relevant legislation, and help you improve your company's performance through continuous assessment. This results in fewer customer complaints or returned products.
ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management
ISO 14001 verifies that your company is complying with current environmental legislation, and thus ensures your access to insurance cover. You'll be able to discover your environmental impact systematically. You can then control it by educating your employees on key issues. Environmental management helps you identify ways to minimise waste, introduce more effective means for its disposal and make more efficient use of energy.
ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management
Conforming to ISO 45001 helps to make you legally compliant with Health and Safety laws. Your Health and Safety policies and procedures will be carefully reviewed. Any measures that can improve or update them will be identified. The overall effect will be to reduce downtime caused by health issues or accidents.
If you feel your company would benefit from ISO certification, we'd be happy to discuss this with you, or to help you set up an initial audit.
